RASSIE ERASMUS HAS dismissed speculation linking him to a return to South Africa to coach the national side.
Reports in his native country over the weekend suggested that the Munster boss would consider coaching the Springboks, or resume his role as their director of rugby, if certain conditions were agreed.
“Rassie has a contract with Munster and won’t travel to South Africa for discussions while doing so well with Munster,” Frikkie Erasmus told Rugby365.

“Rassie is very happy in Ireland. He doesn’t have to deal with interference as is the case in South Africa. He still has plenty of time left on his contract, which is is a very good one.”
Current Springboks manager Allister Coetzee faces an uncertain future in his role with the ‘Boks. A series of poor results during last year’s campaign, including a home Test defeat to Ireland, has prompted many to believe that his term is coming to an end.
Former Springbok Kobus Wiese has previously stated that Coetzee was destined to fail as the national head coach, given the time-frame surrounding his appointment.
He had just two months to prepare his side for the three-Test series against Ireland. Wiese told Sky Sports News that the timing of the appointment, left Coetzee with little chance of success.
“It seems nobody takes responsibility. The whole circus around how Coetzee was appointed was disastrous from day one.
“If you look at his support team – who are they? Where do they come from? What kind of experience do they have at international level? Zero. Nothing.”
“One or two of them maybe; Johann van Graan was adopted from the previous coach, but that’s about it. Also, the way Coetzee was appointed, he was appointed very late into the season.”

Erasmus, whose Munster side earned a home Champions Cup quarter-final against Toulouse over the weekend, has denied the rumours through his lawyer Frikkie Erasmus.
“Rassie has a contract with Munster and won’t travel to South Africa for discussions while doing so well with Munster,” Frikkie Erasmus told Rugby365.
“Rassie is very happy in Ireland. He doesn’t have to deal with interference as is the case in South Africa. He still has plenty of time left on his contract, which is is a very good one.”
